SSS assists first-generation and low income college students in their pursuit of a baccalaureate degree becoming their "guides through college" . Each program is designed specifically to fit the needs of students at that institution so each program is unique.
There are some similarities in that each program must provide these services:

  • Academic Tutoring
  • Advice and Assistance in Postsecondary Course Selection
  • Financial Aid Assistance
  • Financial Literacy Education
  • Graduate School and Professional School Admissions Assistance
  • Facilitate Transfer from Two-Year Institutions to Four-Year Institutions

In addition, programs may provide the following opportunities:
  • Individualized counseling on personal, career and academic issues
  • Career Exploration
  • Cultural Events and Academic Programming
  • Mentoring Programs
  • Assistance to homeless youths and students aging out of foster care
