When is the best time to advocate for an issue? Why advocate for any issues? Where can we advocate for any issue? How can we effectively advocate for an issue that is important to us?) • For Your Listening Pleasure (1/4 Day session)
    Presentor
Jim Moe, Communications Professor, UW-Stevens Point
    Session Description
When someone asks you to listen it’s likely you will say “OK.” The question is when are you really listening? Some people think so long as I can hear you I am listening to you. This session will challenge you to see if you really can listen. You will learn about “Trigger Action” designed to fool you and decrease your ability to comprehend a message, identify “Key Words” in order to solve hidden messages, and recognize words that carry “Double Meanings” designed to confuse listeners. You will also explore how a message can be distorted especially when you choose to participate in “Gossip.” This session is designed to help you improve your listening behavior and depends on your willingness to participate in some fun activities and exercises. This session is for your listening pleasure.
  • The Power of ONE (1/4 Day session)
    Presentor
    TBD
    Session Description
There is so much skepticism around the idea of what can “I” do that many just sit back and do nothing. How do we move past that stigma and move into the realization that ONE is a powerful number. What are you passionate about? What issues are you ready to go to the wall over? What do you believe are the critical roadblocks (education, health care, social reform, the environment, sexism, racism, feminism)? Learn how to harness your passion to tap your Power of ONE.
